from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Graafland family , also Hooft Graafland , Hooft Graafland - De Graeff and Hooft Graafland van Schotervlieland , belongs to the Dutch patriciate and nobility .

The family's origins lie in Rotterdam , from where they moved to Amsterdam at the end of the 16th century . There they came into the government of Amsterdam in the middle of the 17th century . From the marriage of Joan Graafland III. (1736–1799) - landlord of Schotervlieland and ontvanger-generaal of the admiralty te Amsterdam - with Hester Hooft (1740–1791) came Hendrik Hooft Graafland (1764–1828) who introduced the double name Hooft Graafland . This branch of the family was accepted into the Dutch nobility in 1895 with Mr. Ferdinand and Mr. Cornelis Hendrik Theodorus Adrianus Hooft Graafland, while the Graafland was first introduced into the new Dutch nobility in 1815 with Mr. Joan Graafland. Both branches of the family received the Jonkheer title .
