The burial mounds near Shirtingen are five archaeological monuments near Shirtingen in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

The burial mounds are located in the north-east of the community of Shirtsingen on the edge of the so-called Vielmoor, near the B 4 .

description

The five of the once 26 burial mounds are believed to date from 1600 BC. BC and were first examined by the Barmstedt pastor Christian Detlef Rhode at the end of the 17th century. He was also the first to document the excavations and his findings.

The hills have an average diameter of around 15 m. The height is about three meters. All five grave mounds are relatively well preserved due to their location and have hardly any damage on the top. None of the graves has a visible entrance, they are mostly overgrown with grass and surrounded by trees.

The burial mounds are recognized by the State Office for Prehistory and Early History of Schleswig-Holstein (LVF) as an archaeological ground monument and are under monument protection .
