Graciela Alperyn (* 1955 in Buenos Aires , Argentina) is an Argentinian-German opera, concert and lieder singer with a mezzo-soprano voice .

Life

Graciela Alperyn was born in Argentina. In Buenos Aires she received her musical and acting training from Susana Naidich and Leo Schwarz. She won several singing competitions and was invited very early to sing as a guest at the Teatro Colón in her hometown Buenos Aires . There, the mezzo-soprano developed an extensive repertoire and can still be heard there regularly in operas and concerts.

Graciela Alperyn made the leap to Europe in 1984 and was immediately engaged at the Musiktheater im Revier , Gelsenkirchen, of which she was a member of the ensemble for two seasons. In addition, she made guest appearances at various opera houses in Germany. From the music theater she switched to the Hessian State Theater Wiesbaden as a permanent member of the ensemble .

In Wiesbaden, the city that Graciela Alperyn naturalized in 1994 and granted German citizenship, she sang the roles of Rosina, Sextus, Octavian, composer, Fricka, Charlotte, Carmen, Dalila, Eboli and Santuzza. At the International May Festival in Wiesbaden Graciela Alperyn gave recitals with songs by German, Italian, French, Spanish and Russian composers.

Within a short time she sang the most important roles in her field at renowned opera houses such as Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Milan, Zurich, Oslo, Copenhagen, Opera de la Bastille Paris, Budapest, Venice, Bologna, Barcelona, ​​Rio de Janeiro, Chile, São Paulo and Buenos Aires as well as at the major music festivals at home and abroad.

Graciela Alperyn played Carmen alongside Neil Shicoff, Francisco Araiza and Placido Domingo. Especially in the production of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle in Zurich and also at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich (production by Lina Werthmüller) or the Opera de Bastille in Paris, she was able to celebrate successes with this role. After triumphs as Dalila, Amneris and Santuzza, she is increasingly engaged for roles in the dramatic field. In the last few seasons she appeared in Boris Godunow and gave the Klytämnestra in Elektra . In 2009 she sang Herodias in Salome under the director Roberto Oswald .

Graciela Alperyn has recorded several CDs, including the opera Carmen and the Requiem by Verdi. Her CD "Il Trovatore" is equally successful. Her first solo CD "Graciela Alperyn: a portrait" was released by Arte Nova. Another CD "Il Teatro Immaginario di Berlioz" has been released as a live recording of the Berlioz Festival from the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

Graciela Alperyn works with conductors such as James Conlon, Franz Paul Decker, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Marek Janowski, Siegfried Köhler, Uwe Mund, Garcia Navarro, Ulf Schirmer, Hans Wallat and Nello Santi.
