A grenade rifle is a rifle that is used to shoot explosive projectiles.

Grenade rifles were originally developed in the 16th to 18th centuries to fire hand grenades (see also grenade cannon ). The run was short and long, similar to a mortar . Often a gun barrel was connected with it.
