As a seed-eaters (also Granivoren or Körnerfresser ) animals are referred to, which the seeds eaten by plants to provide sufficient nutrition be ensured. This seed-feeding can be a mortality factor for plants , the fattening year is interpreted as a defense mechanism against seed-eaters in order to satiate the predator .

If the seed is able to survive in the animal, the seed of the plant species can spread through it .
