Grant Major
Grant Major (* 1955 in Palmerston North , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand production designer .
Grant Major's design career began with TV productions in New Zealand. His experience ranges from staging events (Commonwealth Games ceremony) to designing the New Zealand pavilions for the world exhibitions in Australia and Spain. For almost 30 years he has worked as a film, commercial, event and exhibition designer.
One of his greatest successes is the " The Lord of the Rings " trilogy by Peter Jackson, in 2004 he won the Oscar for " Best Art Direction-Set Decoration " for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King . He was also nominated for twelve other projects (including by AFI and The Art Directors Guild ) and won another 15 awards.
