history

The soccer team of Grebbestads Idrottsförening, which was founded on May 28, 1922, played for a long time in the lower division, and in the 1970s it temporarily competed in the third division. In the mid-1990s, the now fifth-class club entered a syndicate with Tanums IF from neighboring Tanumshede , which rose to fourth division at the end of 1996. Two years later this broke up again, then the Grebbestads IF ran in the fourth division. After she was relegated to the team in 2002, she fluctuated between the divisions in the following years and was the victim of a league reform in 2006 when she was downgraded to fifth division with the introduction of Division 1 as the third highest division. In the following season, the club missed relegation there, but made it through to fourth-class Division 2 after being promoted again in 2012 , where he immediately settled in the top third of the table. With one point ahead of FC Trollhättan , the team won their fourth division season in 2017 and moved up to Division 1. With one point behind the 10th place in the table, the newcomer to the league was relegated in the southern season at the end of the 2018 season as fourth in the table.
