Green City eV is an environmental organization in Munich . The organization was founded in 1990 and has 2,000 members and active members. The aim of Green City is to make Munich a more liveable and green city. Today the non-profit association is one of the largest environmental organizations in Munich. It is politically and financially independent and is financed by its members, donations, grants and commissioned work.

Green City organizes events in Munich, including the Streetlife Festival , AOK Blade Night and Wanderbaumallee . Since 2008 there have been "swap parties" at which participants can swap used clothing with one another. In 2014 Green City started a greening project with the aim of planting facades and house roofs. The association is committed to reducing fine dust pollution in Munich. In addition, together with the City of Munich, he is setting up the “Green Godfather” project, in which citizens plant so-called green spaces along the road. In the “Edible City” project, sponsors look after flowerbeds in the municipal tree nursery seasonally .

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the journalist Thomas Anlauf recognized that “despite some setbacks, the local environmental organization has changed a lot in the city”. According to Anlauf, Green City has developed into “one of the most influential environmental organizations in Munich”.

In 2005 Green City founded the subsidiary Green City Energy AG (today Green City AG ). Since then, more than 80 subsidiaries have been created, including Green City Finance GmbH in 2013 . As an energy and transport transition company, Green City AG supports and promotes the expansion of renewable energies and alternative transport concepts.
