Frontier hunters

A border fighter is an officer who is armed with armed military forces and is involved in securing the state's external border.

The frontier hunters who work at the state borders or in the immediate hinterland supervise the border so that prohibited goods or goods subject to customs duties are not imported without customs clearance. Furthermore, a border hunter guards the border to ensure that illegal migrants do not cross the border.

history

In the past, this activity was carried out by defense farmers , but with increasing organization and continuous mechanization of border security, it has developed into a profession of its own. In the German Federal Border Guard , Grenzjäger was a rank until 1976. In Hungary , the border hunter's profession was revived in 2016.
