Kesberner limestone beech forest

The nature reserve Kesberner Kalkbuchenwald is a 1.7  hectare nature reserve (NSG) west of Kesbern in the urban area of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1997 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 4 Iserlohn .

Area description

The NSG is a beech forest .

Protection purpose

The nature reserve has been designated for the preservation and development of a beech forest and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
