Elsebachtal nature reserve (Iserlohn)

The Elsebachtal nature reserve is an 11.3  hectare nature reserve (NSG) north-west of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1997 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 4 Iserlohn . The NSG goes up to the district boundary to the Unna district . In the district of Unna it borders in the urban area of Schwerte on the nature reserve Elsebachtal (Schwerte) .

Area description

The NSG is the near-natural valley area of ​​the Else. The valley is characterized by terraces. The area is grazed.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a valley and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
