Lower Baarbachtal nature reserve

The Lower Baarbachtal nature reserve is a 12.10-  hectare nature reserve north of Hennen in the city of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1997 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 4 Iserlohn .

Area description

The NSG is the richly structured valley of the Baarbach, characterized by grassland , with wooded terrace edges. The grassland is mostly wet and poor grassland.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of the lower Baarbach valley with grassland and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
