Mühlenberg nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mühlenberg nature reserve is a 14  hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the city of Iserlohn in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1997 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 4 Iserlohn . The nature reserve Auf der Saat to the west is sometimes only about 60 m away.

Area description

The NSG is a biotope complex of lime sites. There are pearl grass beech forests, semi-dry lawns, sloe bushes and former coppice forest in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of a biotope complex of limestone sites and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
