Handle shell (component)
A handle shell is the name given to parts made of wood, rubber, plastic or other materials that are attached to the right and left of the handle of a handgun or a knife in order to ensure a better grip of the weapon in the shooter's hand.
Another form of the grip shell consists of one part and is pushed over the entire grip of the weapon. These models represent an even better contact with the shooter's hand. For sport shooters , special grip shells are made for handguns, often made to measure, which can achieve the best hold according to anatomical criteria.
The exchange of grip shells is a well-known way to change the appearance of weapons in a manner that is legally correct, since no changes are necessary to the mechanics of the weapon.
