The grilletta , also known as grillette (plural: grillettes), is a variant of the hamburger that emerged from the cuisine of the German Democratic Republic . The associated food stalls and restaurants to or in which they were sold were also called Grilletta.

To prepare a round or oval is bread (unlike the hamburger with crispy crust) sliced, warmed on the cut surfaces, a Grillette ( meatball ) of pork inserted and chutney or ketchup added.
