Groß-Holum is an old East Frisian Warfendorf located two kilometers southwest of the North Sea health resort Neuharlingersiel .

The place name Holum can already be found on a map from 1579. The surrounding pastures were partially flooded during a storm and required the cattle to be brought back to the safe stable. The dykes were still primitive at the time, but the laboriously man-made mound provided security. So the place Hol - um, aus hol - zurück was created on this warf.

A specialty in the East Frisian area is the Seriemer mill, built in 1804. It is now a listed building and can be visited free of charge all year round. The historically significant mill can stand up to the wind in all its details, ready for demonstration, and deliver demonstrations of the ancient art of grinding.
