Information board

The Große Straße 43 building in Osnabrück is a listed residential building.

The two-storey eaves house with seven axes was built in 1768 on behalf of the former mayor Dr. Berghoff built. The finely structured and ornamented rococo sandstone facade, which is rare in northern Germany based on the French model, is faded in. It has a curved gable with ox-eye and a vase crown above the central projection. The building broke with the traditional gable-independent construction for the first time at the time of its construction. The corner pilasters are also crowned with vases. The facade of the house was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century and a shop was set up on the ground floor. After the severe destruction in World War II , it is one of the few preserved historic town houses in the Lower Saxony city. However, it has been completely renewed inside.
