The large stone grave on the Rübenberg between the towns of Dohnsen and Siddernhausen east of Bergen (district of Celle) was originally 500 meters to the north. It was excavated in 1977 and rebuilt in its current location. The megalithic complex from the Neolithic Age was probably destroyed in the 17th or 18th century. Some stones were sunk in the ground, others were removed. As a result, a considerable part of the former substance was lost.

description

Large stone grave near Dohnsen / Siddernhausen

The excavation revealed that the originally 16 meter long chamber consisted of 20 to 24 bearing stones and about eight cap stones. She had a rolling stone paving and a lateral access so that the system as a passage grave is to be described. The gaps between the hub and shroud stones were with drywall from granite sealed. The entire complex was probably originally covered by a mound of earth. This complex probably served as a burial place for several generations. The dead were placed on the floor of the burial chamber and furnished with their jewelry, clay vessels and everyday utensils for their onward life after death .
