A grommet (from the French gromette , curb on the bridle) is a ring or spout that is inserted through holes in materials, for example to strengthen, protect or seal them. Usually they are made of rubber or metal. Two components can be decoupled from one another using grommets, e.g. B. between a microphone and the tripod to dampen the housing noise. When skateboard grommets are used to make steerable about axes.
