Groupe Mutuel

The Groupe Mutuel, Association d'assureurs, brings together several independent companies that are active in the fields of health and accident insurance, occupational benefits and life insurance. The roots of the Groupe Mutuel go back a long way: The Groupe Mutuel was founded in 1993 and is the heiress of the first non-profit aid association in the canton of Valais, which was founded in St-Maurice (VS) in 1852 . The member societies are legally independent and have their own judicial bodies; Groupe Mutuel makes its human resources and infrastructure available to them. This pooling of resources creates useful and fruitful synergies that benefit all partner companies. The Groupe Mutuel has the task of representing the interests of the following health insurers that are active in the compulsory health insurance: Mutuel Krankenversicherung AG, Philos Krankenversicherung AG, Avenir Krankenversicherung AG and EasySana Krankenversicherung AG. It also has two private insurers under itself for the supplementary insurance: Groupe Mutuel Insurance GMA AG and Mutuel Insurance AG, as well as Groupe Mutuel Leben GMV AG.

In 2018, Groupe Mutuel adopted a holding structure controlled by its foundation. This unites health insurers, supplementary health insurers, a life insurance company and a service company, Groupe Mutuel Services AG.

Groupe Mutuel also manages two occupational pension foundations, Groupe Mutuel Pensions and Valais Pensions. In 2019, these two pension foundations will merge.
