Humboldt mine

Grube Humboldt refers to various mines (pits) that are named after members of the von Humboldt family (mostly after Alexander von Humboldt):

  • a former ore and lignite mine in Bergisch Gladbach, district Paffrath, see Humboldt mine (Bergisch Gladbach)
  • a former lignite mine near Wallensen in the Leinebergland, see Humboldt opencast mine
  • a former hard coal mine in Mülheim an der Ruhr, district Heißen, see Humboldt colliery
  • a former hard coal mine in Halle an der Saale, Dölau district, see Humboldt mine (Dölau)
  • a former ore mine in the Holzbachtal near Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Bergisches Land
  • a former brown coal mine near Goritz ( Górzyca ) and Spudlow (Spudłów) in what is now Poland
  • a former lignite mine near Driesen in today's Poland
