The Grumman American AA-5 is a light aircraft produced by the American manufacturer Grumman American .
history
The company American Aircraft in 1970 developed its two-seater American AA-1 to the four-seat AA-5 Traveler on. For this purpose, the hull was lengthened by 0.84 m and the wingspan was also increased by 2.13 m. A 115 kW Lycoming O-320 E2G was used to drive a two-bladed propeller. The first flight took place on August 21, 1970 and the first delivery in December 1971. After the takeover of American Aircraft by Grumman, the further improved luxury version AA-5B Tiger was created in 1974 and from 1976 the simpler AA-5A Cheetah , which was built until 1979. These had larger tail surfaces and rear windows, more fuel and the Tigers had a more powerful Lycoming O-360 engine. In 1990 American General Aircraft took over the rights to the aircraft and produced the AG-5B Tiger, which was improved again until 1994 . Between 2002 and 2006, Tiger Aircraft built another AG-5B. A total of 831 AA-5, 900 AA-5A, 1323 AA-5B and more than 170 AG-5B were built.
