The Schwabinger See is an artificially created lake in North Schwabing in Munich . It is located northwest of the Ungererbad between Traubestrasse, Schinkelstrasse and the western section of Berliner Strasse. The Schwabing freight yard was previously located on the site .

It is an artificially created lake that was created in the course of the development of the site by the Munich Reinsurance Company at the end of the 1980s. The lake has an L-shape and an area of around 2.7 hectares. The lake is traversed by the Nymphenburg-Biederstein Canal , which is called Schwarze Lacke at this point , from the north-west bank; it leaves the lake on its south bank, flows through the adjacent Ungererbad and from there on into the Schwabinger Bach in the English Garden .

There are wide, mostly gravel paths around the bank, and a paved bank promenade with seating and adjacent rows of trees has been created on the north side of the lake. In the lake there are two inaccessible islands that serve as a retreat for the water birds living on the lake .
