The Ebersdorf primary school is a primary school in the Ebersdorf district of Chemnitz .
history
In 1841 a school building was built at Mittweidaer Straße 56, in which classes were held until 1878. The construction of a new school building was planned in 1870 and began in 1877. At EasterIn 1878 the school was opened at Lichtenauer Straße 48. In 1900, 640 students went to the Ebersdorf School, which was taught by just seven teachers. In 1906 the construction of a new school began, directly opposite the old one at Lichtenauer Straße 45. When it opened in 1907, teaching was carried out in both buildings. In 1926 a gym was added to the new school. On March 29, 1984 the school was named "Max-Saupe-Oberschule". In 1992, due to the reunification, the school only became a primary school. In 1993, lessons in the old school were discontinued and completely relocated to the new one. The old school building has been a residential home since around 2010 after several years of deterioration. Due to its location on the rather rural outskirts of Chemnitz, the school today bears the title “School in the Green”.
