Banamex (Banamex GF; dt. : Banamex Financial Group ) is a group of companies in Mexico , which in August 2001 from the sale of Banamex-Accival ( "Banacci") to the Citigroup Inc. emerged.

The so-called "Banacci" was a group of investors founded by Banamex , which acted as a stock exchange and securities house ( Acciones y Valores = "Accival"). Alfredo Harp Helú and Roberto Hernández Ramírez were responsible for the establishment in 1991 , who after 2001 also became president of the Grupo Financiero Banamex .

After the takeover of "Banacci" by Citigroup, the traditional name was retained. The offer has since been expanded and the group is now represented in over 100 countries worldwide. In addition to the Banamex bank itself, the Grupo Financiero Banamex includes a stock exchange, an insurance company and the Administradoras de Fondos para el Retiro Banamex .
