Guduscani

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guduscani (Croatian Guduščani ) was a South Slavic tribe in the 9th century in today's Croatia.

The Guduscani were mentioned only once. In 818 Prince Borna was called dux Guduscanorum . In the Annales regni Francorum it was referred to as dux Dalmatiae et Liburniae for the year 821 .

The settlement area of the Gudushans was probably close to the Dalmatian coast. The Guduča River near Zadar is linguistically similar, as is the city of Gacka ( Lika ). The Guduscani belonged to the Frankish Empire as vassals in 818 . There is no further news about her. Probably afterwards they belonged to the Principality of Dalmatia and Liburnia .
