Guglielmo Pugi

Guglielmo Pugi (* around 1850 in Fiesole ; † 1915) was an Italian sculptor. He experienced his artistic heyday in Florence from 1870 to 1915.

Life

He designed the bust of the Italian King Umberto I , which stands on the main square in his native Fiesole . Many of his sculptures are on display in the Historical Alabaster Museum of Volterra , Italy.

His studio specialized in export pieces, which were in demand at this time. When his sons later worked, he traded under the name Guglielmo Pugi e figli . After his death in 1915? The atelier was called Fratelli G. e F. Pugi (brothers Gino and Fiorenzo Pugi).
