Gurgi mosque

The Gurgi Mosque ( Arabic جامع قرجي, DMG Ǧāmiʿ Qurǧī ) is located in the old town of the Libyan capital Tripoli and is part of a whole complex of historic, touristically attractive buildings; Nearby is the Roman Arch of Marcus Aurelius .

The mosque was built in 1834 (1833?) And is named after the Georgian Mustafa Gurgi (also Yusuf / Youssef Gurgi), a naval captain who commissioned the construction. To the right of the entrance is an antechamber that houses the tombs of Gurgi and his family. The mosque has an octagonal minaret and 16 domes.
