Gustav Demmler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The company Gustav Demmler was a 1867 in Berlin based company for the production of luxury and paper lace.

Products

The Gustav Demmler company was almost the sole manufacturer of " anniversary numbers", silver or gold-colored numbers mounted on wire and embossed in cardboard. Cake laces and various decorations such as garlands or lace doilies made of paper that were placed under coffee settings were also produced with almost no competition .

The company was initially located at Prinzenstrasse 86 in the growing Tempelhofer Vorstadt, on the then southern city limits of Berlin. The son and future soccer player Georg Demmler (1873–1931), known as "Hutti", was born there to the company's founder. The factory owner moved to Brandenburgstrasse 45 (today's Lobeckstrasse) in the 1880s . It wasn't until 1901 that he started producing  his luxury items at Zossener Straße 31.

One of the company's trademarks was "GD Dekorativ", the rights of which were acquired by a company in Swabia in the 1980s.

The address books show that Gustav Demmler no longer produced lace paper in the 1940s, but rather supplies for flowers.

Staufen-Demmler GmbH & Co. KG

The "Staufen-Demmler GmbH & Co. KG" in Wurmlingen (Tuttlingen district) initially took over 50 percent in 1985, and then in 1995 the remaining half of the Berlin company and with it the right to continue the name "Demmler" in the company.

Others

Around 1900 there was a paper shop and publishing house of the same name Gustav Demmler in Ribnitz , which sold postcards .
