Gustavo Parra Arévalo

Gustavo Parra Arévalo (* 1963 in Ipiales / Nariño ) is a Colombian composer.

Parra studied at the Conservatorio de Quito with Cesar Ramón and Mario Baeza and at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia with Gustavo Yepes . He was musical director of the Fundación Nacional Batuta for ten years and in 2001 became professor of composition and instrumentation at the Universidad Nacional. He is also President of Gapa Music Publishers .

He has received several awards for his compositions, including a. In the 1990s he received the national prize for composition from the Colombian Ministry of Culture three times.
