Gut Holz Eppenbrunn or SKK Gut Holz Eppenbrunn is a competitive sport - bowling club from Eppenbrunn with a 50-year tradition. In 1987 he was promoted to the first division , the classement of which could be held for another year.

The association was officially founded on February 19, 1965 by 15 members. Chairman was Hans Kupper, sports warden Roland Ruprecht. The founding members had already bowled regularly in Saarbacher Hammer since 1963 , and from 1964 onwards, after the completion of a three-lane bowling alley in the Kupper guest house in Eppenbrunn, they moved there. Already for the winter season 1965/66 two teams could be registered for the C-class, of which, curiously, in March 1966 the second team was promoted to the B-class. A youth department was established as early as 1967, and a women's department in November 1970.

Game history

In 1970 Gut Holz Eppenbrunn became national champion for the first time. Even the President of the German Bowling Association, Dr. Hans Baum. In 1970 the Altschloßpokal was donated, which was played annually in May until 1988. In its heyday 1979 to 1981 over 100 teams were at the start.

In 1971, 12-year-old Rosi Kupper became national champion of the female B-youth and achieved sixth place at the German championships. In 1975 she left the track as a member of the youth national team in Vienna as the winner. The fourth runway in the clubhouse was also inaugurated in 1971. The 1973/74 season ended the first team as runner-up in the district class.

At the end of the 1980/81 season Gut Holz Eppenbrunn managed to move up to the 1st State League Rhineland-Palatinate for the second time after 1969. A year later a promotion could be celebrated again, this time to the 2nd Bundesliga North. Until the 1985/86 season, this class could be held in good midfield positions, before Gut Holz Eppenbrunn became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga in the following season, also through the “new” addition Georg Arenth , Gut Holz Eppenbrunn. Only in the 1989/90 season was the club back in the 2nd Bundesliga North.

After the death of the promoter of bowling in Eppenbrunn, Hans Kupper, in January 2011 and the decline in interest in the club, the four-lane facility is to be reduced to one lane in the winter of 2011/12 in favor of a larger wellness area at the Kupper guest house .
