Jean Huré
Jean Huré (born September 17, 1877 in Gien , † January 27, 1930 in Paris ) was a French composer and organist.
Huré studied anthropology, composition, improvisation and medieval music at the École St-Maurille Angers and worked as an organist at the city's cathedral. In 1895 he came to Paris, where Charles-Marie Widor and Charles Koechlin advised him to study at the Conservatory . However, Huré preferred an independent life.
From 1910 he taught at the École normal , where Yves Nat and Manuel Rosenthal were among his students. In 1911 he was one of the founders of the Paris Mozart Society. As organist he worked at the churches of Saint-Martin-des-Champs and St. Séverin , from 1924 as successor to Lucien Grandjany at Sacré-Cœur , and from 1926 as successor to Eugène Gigout at St. Augustin .
In addition to a number of organ works, Huré a. a. an operetta and a ballet, three symphonies and chamber music works. In 2010 a CD was released with works by Huré, a four-movement sonata for violin and piano and a piano quintet with the Quatuor Louvigny and her first violinist Philippe Koch as violin soloist and the pianist Marie-Josèphe Jude .
