Half-timbered houses on Gut Hungenbach
After the fire in 2013

Gut Hungenbach is a hotel and conference facility in the Hungenbach district of Kürten . It consists of an ensemble of buildings from the 18th century as well as half-timbered houses that were moved here in order to preserve them. The building complex is also known as an open-air museum .

These include a residential building from the Varresbeck house , which had to make way for road expansion, and the residential building of Johann Heinrich Jung-Stilling , which was saved from building a dam. The owner Hildegard von Fragstein was the first woman to be honored with the Rhineland thaler in 1977 .

At the beginning of April 2013 a fire broke out, completely destroying the “Haus Hungenbach” building, in which the restaurant was located. In June 2013 the restaurant in "Haus Varresbeck" was able to reopen.
