Gut Wolda was an aristocratic manor near Laar , which was created in 1540 by splitting off from Gut Laar ( Grafschaft Bentheim ).

history

The estate emerged in the 16th century from an inheritance dispute, after the death of Johann von Laar zu Laarwald , between Heinrich von Beste and his brother-in-law Heinrich von Laar, son of the deceased. Heinrich von Beste even knew how to turn it into an item that could be used in the Landtag, making it the youngest of these goods in the county of Bentheim.

On a topographic map of the Dutch military from the middle of the 19th century, the floor plan of the manor building and the associated moats can still be seen. However, on this map the neighboring Gut Laar is incorrectly marked as Wohlda (country estate) , which means that at least the information on the German side of this map seems to be incorrect.
