Good evening ticket

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Guten-Abend-Ticket was a ticket offer in the price system of Deutsche Bahn AG between 1994 and 2002 . It entitles you to travel as long as you like between 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. in German rail traffic.

history

The offer was introduced on February 14, 1994. The valid 19-2 pm Ticket cost 49 German marks without ICE -Use with ICE 59 D-Mark, in the first class were 89 German marks to pay. Children traveled at half price.

Saturday, the period from April 1st to 3rd and May 22nd, 1994 were excluded as travel days. This concerned the Easter and Pentecost weekends. In the first three weeks, around 4500 travelers used the new offer every day.

At the beginning of August 1994 the board of directors of Deutsche Bahn decided to permanently include the originally time-limited offer in the ticket offer. The ticket for the period from 22nd to 27th December 1994, i.e. the Christmas holidays, was excluded from validity.

On February 1, 1995, the price was increased from 49 to 59 D-Marks in 2nd class, for ICE and night trains from 59 to 69 D-Marks. The price in 1st class was raised to 99, with ICE to 109 D-Mark. In addition, a surcharge of 15 D-Marks was introduced for Friday and Sunday evenings. The validity of the ticket has generally been revoked for the Easter and Christmas days. From July 2001 the offer was subject to a quota.

In the course of the offer, the validity on Saturday was brought forward to from 2 p.m. in order to increase the occupancy rate on the trains.

The offer was discontinued in mid-December 2002 as part of the new price system .

In April 2011, a similar offer was marketed as the “19 euros from 7pm” ticket. With this ticket, long-distance journeys from 19 euros were possible between Monday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. the following day.
