history

The gallery owner György Koller (1923–1996) first founded the copper engraver artists' association ("RMAK") in 1953. Due to its claim to the quality and authenticity of the works of art, the association quickly became a household name in the Hungarian art life and art trade - mainly because the artists experienced more freedom and personal support from the association than was possible from the government.

In 1980, the first private gallery in Hungary was opened in Amerigo Tot's studio house . From then on, the Koller Gallery received permission to present sculptures, small sculptures and paintings in addition to graphics. In 1984 she built a showroom and sales room in the Hungarian National Gallery , which strengthened cooperation with state institutions. In addition, exhibition rooms were opened in Petőfi Sándor utca as well as in the Hilton Hotel in Buda, which made it possible to present the art to a wider audience. In addition, through the organization of exhibitions such as by János Kass in London, by Imre Varga in Venice, Vienna, Basel and Paris or by Miklós Melocco in Hamburg, the reputation of Hungarian contemporary art has also improved abroad. György Koller died in 1996.

In 2006 the grandson György Kollers took over the management of the gallery. The aim of the gallery is to represent Hungarian and international contemporary and modern art. After a phase of modernization, the gallery has successfully organized numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
