The Helle Gymnasium Kėdainiai ( Lithuanian Kėdainių Šviesioji gimnazija ) is a high school with 503 students and 35 employees in Kėdainiai in central Lithuania .

history

In 1625 the Kėdainiai Lyceum was founded. Thanks to the initiative and funds of Kristupas Radvila , it received the status of a high school in 1649. It was subordinated to the Synod of the Lithuanian Reformed Church . During the war it was closed, in 1824 by the tsarist administration. For some time there was a school here. From 1858 to 1864 it regained the status of a grammar school. In 1922 the Kėdainiai grammar school was rebuilt. From 1946 it was called the 1st Middle School Kėdainiai. In 1981 the school was given the name of the writer Juozas Paukštelis . In 1997 it became the Juozas-Paukštelis-Gymnasium. In 2002 the grammar school was combined with the Kėdainiai elementary school and the Kėdainiai Juozas-Paukštelis elementary school and the “Helle” (lit. Šviesioji ) Kėdainiai grammar school were founded.
