The company was founded in 1942 by Eugène Héroux in Canada. The company began with the production of parts and components in the aerospace industry. In 1960 the development, design and manufacture of landing gears and landing gears for aircraft began. In 1969, Héroux developed and produced the landing gear for the American Apollo Lunar module for NASA. In 1986 the company went public. In 1987 the McSwain Manufacturing Corporation was taken over.
