Höga flisa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Höga flisa is a man-made limestone block north of the town and south of the cemetery of Byxelkrok on the Swedish Baltic island of Öland .

The stone has a height of about 1.7 meters and is visible from afar near the bank of Kalmar Sound . Highway 136 leads past him.

The reason for the installation of the stone, of which there are several types on Öland, is unclear. There may be a connection with the cemetery of Byxelkrok , which originally extended significantly further south. There are interpretations that the stone can be seen as Thor's hammer . There was a tradition among local fishermen to meet at this stone and ask for a good catch.
