Altimeter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An altitude recorder is a measuring device that can be used to record the altitude profile of a flight. Usually it is a special barograph , i.e. a registering barometer . During the flight, the air pressure and thus the altitude are recorded on a drum covered with paper. In recent years, altimeters have increasingly been designed as electronic measuring devices. Flights can then be subsequently evaluated on a connected PC. Some of the new altimeters also have a connection to a GPS device so that the flight is recorded in three dimensions.
