Höllplatz No. 1

The Höllgasse is a 30-meter-long street in Freistadt in Upper Austria's Mühlviertel . The alley was laid out when the city was founded in the 13th century and is located within the city walls of the old town . The alley begins near the Linzertor and ends at Höllplatz. The Höllplatz is a small, almost rectangular square, about 20 meters long and up to Dechanthofgasse enough.

There are only eight houses along today's Höllgasse and Höllplatz, four of which are listed. In the two great city fires in 1507 and 1516, all the houses in the city were destroyed, including in this area. Due to the city fires, many old documents from the time the houses were built have been lost.

For around seven years, plans to convert Eisengasse and the adjacent Höllplatz into a pedestrian zone have been discussed in the local council. So far, no majority has been achieved for the facility. The affected businesses in Eisengasse are against this project.
