The Hübner Mühle is a historic post mill in the district of Großwig in the northern Saxony municipality of Dreiheide in the northern Saxony district . The technical monument is located north of the village halfway in the direction of the Süptitz district, directly on federal road 183 on a hill in the east of the Dübener Heide nature reserve .

history

The post mill, owned by the Hübner family for several generations, was built between 1845 and 1847 on the site of a dismantled mill. According to tradition, there was a mill at this point as early as the 16th century. According to tradition, a mill located here was initially badly damaged by a heavy storm during the Seven Years' War in 1760 and then largely destroyed by Austrian soldiers. An Austrian officer is said to have been slain during this destruction. Its hereditary interest had to be paid to the Großwiger manor.

In 1970 the mill, which was last equipped with an electric drive, finally went out of operation. The historic mill farm was sold in 1989 by the wife of master miller Hermann Huebner. The mill wings had previously been dismantled in the mid-1970s. The historic building was finally taken over in 1999 by the municipality of Dreiheide. In the same year the mill was reconstructed with the help of subsidies and in the following year it was reopened as a foam mill in a functional condition. The restoration costs amounted to around 180,000 Deutschmarks, of which 80 percent were subsidized.

On the grounds of the mill there is also a 8.50 meter deep shaft, which was built in 1823 and deepened in 1856, and which was expanded with rocks. Inside the fountain, initials and inscriptions can be found on two sandstones.

A regular event on the site is the annual German Mill Day , during which the post mill can be visited.

The former mill farmstead in the immediate vicinity is now in a largely dilapidated condition.
