Hüttenbims is created by foaming the blast furnace slag melt with water . Hüttenbims is less suitable for the production of concrete because of the mostly coarse-pored and less favorable grain shape , since it requires more cement paste for the same strength, which in turn increases the density of the concrete. The bond between the cement stone is good for rough surfaces, but the water absorption is lower than with natural pumice .
