history

Today's Hōbunsha began in 1946 with the establishment of Shōbunkan ( 尚 文 館 ) and the publication of the magazine Shōnen Shōjo Jiyū Nikki ( 少年 少女 自由 日記 ) by Yoshiharu Kōju (?) ( 孝 壽 芳 春 ) and his comrade Yoshio Jōhō ( 男. 法 快 快) ). In 1947 the Shōbunkan publishing house published the youth magazines Yakyū Shōnen ( 野球 少年 , "baseball youth"), Tsūkai Shōnen ( 痛快 少年 , "amusement youth") and the children's story あ ゝ 玉杯 に 花 う け て by the author Kōroku Satō ( 佐藤 紅緑 ) . In 1948 the publishing house bought the property of today's publishing house in Kōraku. In 1950, Yakyū Shōnen reached a record as a youth magazine with 250,000 copies sold.
