The HDAX is a share index that is calculated by Deutsche Börse as a performance index and a price index . It summarizes the values of all companies from the German selection indices DAX , MDAX and TecDAX . This means that it has a broader basis than the German leading index DAX. Due to the parallel inclusion of shares in the TecDAX, which are already included in the DAX or MDAX, the total number of stocks contained in the HDAX is variable.
The HDAX is the successor index of the DAX100, which previously (before the MDAX was downsized) comprised the 30 DAX stocks and the 70 MDAX stocks. The historical development of the HDAX was supplemented by that of the DAX100. The index was normalized to a base value of 500 points as of December 30, 1987.
