coat of arms

Blazon : “In gold, a blue oblique left-hand wave bar; in front a red gallery Dutch windmill, in the back accompanied by a left-leaning, leafy, green ear of corn; Leaning to the left at the bottom, a two-leaved, green oak branch, fertilized with an acorn. "

Schweindorf has also had a coat of arms since 2014. It shows a blue sloping wavy bar, a red gallery Dutch windmill at the top left and next to it a green ear of corn with leaves and a two-leaved green oak branch on a golden background. The earlier name (1564) Zwyndorp refers to the identifier Zwin as an old name for a creek . The sloping blue wave bar stands for the Zwin watercourse. The windmill and the ear of corn stand for the landmark of the place, the so-called Klaashensche Mühle. The oak branch stands for the many wooded areas in Schweindorf and for the old wedding custom, which can be traced back to a decree of Prince Christian Eberhard von Ostfriesland from the year 1697, according to which newly wed couples had to plant an oak. This custom is still practiced today with the wedding forest in Schweindorf. The heraldic tinctures green, red and gold also symbolize belonging to the Holtriem municipality, which also has these colors in its coat of arms.

The design ideas for the coat of arms come from council member Hans Schuster and the design (coat of arms outline) was realized by Roland R. Tiedtke.
