It appears six times a year and follows a blind review process in assessing and selecting the submitted contributions .

history

HMD was first published in 1964 as a loose-leaf collection under the title "Handbuch der maschinellen Datenverarbeitung". Another 103 deliveries followed by 1982. In the meantime, there has also been a change of name to the "Handbuch der moderne Datenverarbeitung". Since 1998 the title of the journal has been "Praxis der Wirtschaftsinformatik" while retaining the HMD logo.

After his departure, the loose-leaf collection was given up and replaced by individual issues published every two months. Heidi Heilmann (University of Stuttgart, retired) took over the editorial management in 1982, who had been working on the magazine since 1968 with the appearance of her first article. From June 2006 to December 2014 Susanne Strahringer (TU Dresden) took on the role of HMD editor-in-chief; since January 2015 this task has been with Matthias Knoll (Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences), his deputy is Stefan Reinheimer.

The HMD has been published by Springer Vieweg since issue 295 (Volume 51, Issue 1 - January 2014).
