HMS Jackal
HMS Jackal is the name of the following British ships, named after the wild dog jackal :
- HMS Jersey (1778) , a10 gun cutter bought in 1778 and sold again in 1785.
- HMS Jackal (1779) , a 14-gun cutter that was handed over to the French by its mutinous crew later that year. After being retaken in 1781, it was captured by the American frigate USS Deane in 1782.
- HMS Jackal (1792) , a10-gun brig in service in 1792.
- HMS Jackal (1801) , a12-gun brig launched in 1801 and captured by the French in 1807.
- HMS Jackal (1844) , an iron paddle wheel drive gunboatlaunched in 1844 and sold in 1887.
- HMS Jackal (1885) , a fisheries protection ship boughtas HMS Woodcock in1885. In 1886 it was renamed HMS Jackal and sold in 1906.
- HMS Jackal (1911) , an Acheron- class destroyer thatentered service in 1911 and sold in 1920.
- HMS Jackal (F22) , a destroyer of the J-Class , which was launched in 1938 and was sunk 1,942th
