HMS Monarch
Five Royal Navy ships were named HMS Monarch :
- the first HMS Monarch (1747) was a 3rd class ship of the line with 74 cannons; it was the former French Monarque , which had been captured in the Second Naval Battle of Cape Finisterre in 1747 . On the first monarch , Admiral John Byng was executed in 1757 . The ship was sold in 1760.
- the second HMS Monarch (1765) was also a 3rd class ship of the line with 74 cannons, launched in 1765. In 1797 she was the flagship of Vice Admiral Richard Onslow in the Battle of Camperdown . In 1813 this ship was canceled.
- the third HMS Monarch (1832) was a 2nd class ship of the line with 84 guns, launched in 1832 and demolished in 1866.
- the fourth HMS Monarch (1868) was an armored turret ship launched in 1868 and demolished in 1905.
- the fifth HMS Monarch (1911) was a battleship launched in 1911 and sunk as a target ship in 1925.
