These include a. also solutions for the central distribution of software on clients and servers. The software package has been called HP Service Activator (HPSA) since 2008 .

Single modules

OpenView covers various areas of IT management and consists of a number of integrated modules:

Network Node Manager iSeries (NNMi)

for network management .

The NNMi is currently available in version 9.20 (as of October 2012). There are two versions: the standard and the advanced edition. Both versions are licensed according to the number of nodes to be monitored. The NNMi is used for SNMP monitoring of the IP level of network components . These are typically switches, routers and firewalls. In the Standard and Advanced Editions, Layer2 management enables you to look one OSI layer deeper. Additional Smart Plugins (iSPIs) can be integrated for monitoring routing protocols, IP telephony, multicasting, etc. In addition to the graphical representation of the nodes, there is an incident browser in which incident and SNMP traps are displayed. By linking with scripts, event-dependent actions can be triggered.

In addition to monitoring the accessibility of network components, bandwidth capacities, the status of interfaces, line faults, router CPUs and backups are typically monitored.

OpenView Operations

for application and system management. From a management server, e.g. B. Monitor scripts can be distributed to the agents on the individual systems, which report messages about the system and application status to the management server. Administrators can view these messages via a GUI and, if necessary, start stored actions.

Operation Manager for Unix (OMU) formerly: OpenView Operations for Unix (OVOU)

Since version 8, OVOU contains agents that communicate with the management server in encrypted form via HTTPS.

Service Desk (SD)

for IT service management according to ITIL for asset management and identity management .

ServiceCenter (SC) / Service Manager (SM)

for IT service management according to ITIL

The product was integrated into HP OV after the acquisition of Peregrine Systems Inc. (December 2005). The 6.x series is the first edition of ServiceCenter under the HP flag.

In December 2008 the newest version of HP OpenView ServiceCenter (formerly Peregrine ServiceCenter / known as "PSC") 7.x was released. From version 7.x the OpenView software is now called "Service Manager" and is also sold as such.

AssetCenter (AC)

for asset management

Business Process Insight

for business service management to address an IT governance strategy.

Data protector

for data backup , both locally and via LAN or SAN . Plug-ins are available for some applications (e.g. SAP ), databases (e.g. Oracle and DB2 ) and disk arrays (e.g. Symmetrix , HP XP) in order to be able to carry out an integrated hot backup . Up to and including version 4.1 the product was called OmniBack , previously Apollo .

Performance Agent (HPPA, formerly OVPA)

for collecting performance data such as memory usage, hard drive throughput, CPU utilization.

Performance Manager (HPPM, formerly OVPM)

for real-time evaluation of performance data obtained by the performance agent, e.g. B. by graphing historical data.

Reporter (HPR, formerly OVR)

Gathers performance and availability data, which is typically collected by the HP Performance Agent, in a database and creates e.g. B. monthly performance reports from it.
